What is a Rat's Nest?

The Rat's Nest is used with the Rat Zapper and the Ultra Rat Zapper when they are placed outside.

Because the Rat Zapper has electronics, it is susceptible to moisture. If the zapper units are placed outside without protection, they will short out, making them ineffective.

Simply match the appropriate Rat's Nest for the zapper.

Ultra Rat Zapper

The Ultra Rat Zapper is the newer rat zapper model.

The Ultra Zapper combined the technologies from the Classic Rat Zapper and Rat Pack into one very compact efficient unit.

Instead of a bulky add-on like the Rat Pack was, there is not this sleek shiny zapper that will give you the maximum kills per set of batteries.

The Ultra Rat Zapper uses 4 D sized batteries, this allows for over 40 kills. If you have more than a few rodents you are trying to get rid of, then you will certainly want to use the Ultra.

They will work inside or outside. However if you are going to use it outside, we highly recommend using the Rats Nest. This will keep your unit from getting wet and shorting out.

If you want the newest, most efficient zapper, than choose the Ultra Rat Zapper for your rodent control.

Zapper Time

Our daughter arrived back home for the weekend, she is a sophomore in college.

So we pull out the inflatable air mattress and got her setup in the spare room. Only to have her tell us the next morning that there was a mouse in the room during the middle of the night and she would not sleep in there till it was gone.

OK, time to fire up the old standby, the Rat Zapper. It has been waiting for just this type problem.

Put in new batteries, baited it, and the next morning our youngest son comes running down the stairs with the zapper in his hand, telling all the world that we got one. Of course the ladies did not want to see the dead critter, kill joys they are.

After a couple of more nights with no activity, the room was cleared for her to use once again.

So if you have uninvited mice running around your home, we highly recommend getting a Rat Zapper or the Ultra Rat Zapper.

Baiting the Rat Zapper

Each Rat Zapper arrives with a fresh bag of bait. The bait is dry dog food, which works well for most rats and mice. However there is always a few rodents who think they are smarter than the bait you use and will not enter into the Rat Zapper.

Here are some recommendations for bait that will entice any stubburn rat our mouse into the Rat Zapper for a quick kill.

Fried sausage
Sunflower seeds
Peanut butter
Vanilla waffers
Hot dogs
Smelly cheese

Keep in mind that if you are using a bait that is loose or soft, it will need to be put into an empty pop bottle cap and then slide all the way to the back of the Rat Zapper.

Also remember that it only takes 1-2 pieces of bait at a time. If you get to many pieces of bait in the Rat Zappery, you will short out the unit and it will not work when the rodent shows up for their snack.

Cleaning the Rat Zapper

From time to time your Rat Zapper will need cleaned. You will know it is time when you turn on the Rat Zapper and it makes a arching sound.

The first thing you should do when cleaning your Rat Zapper is turn if off. The next step is to remove the batteries. Now you are ready to start cleaning.

Take your zapper along with a pan of hot soapy water, about 1.5" deep, and sit the Zapper in the water. It will need to sit there for 2 hours. After the soaking time has expired, remove the Rat Zapper, scrub the bottom and then rinse out.

It must be completely dry before putting the batteries back into the unit. You can let it air dry or speed up the process by using a hair dryer.

It is important to put in fresh batteries as the unit was probably draining the batteries when it was shortly out.

Cleaning the Rat Zapper will keep it functioning for a long time.

Rat Zapper

This is all about my Rat Zapper.

Have you ever been sitting in your living room watching TV and have mouse run across the room? Will I have and I can say it was not a pleasant experience.

The worst part was my wife's response...screaming at the top of her lungs and jumping onto the couch, what a site.

Ok, so now what do I do, go buy a Rat Zapper of course.

I am the kind of guy who likes to check out the newest gadgets available. So I go online to see what is available for mouse traps. I come across the Rat Zapper, so I had to buy one and see if it really was a good as they say.

It arrived, I followed the instructions and bait it, turned it on and waited.

Sure enough, the next morning the light on top of the rat zapper was blinking. I then took it over to the trash and dumped the critter out, no more mice! Happy wife.

Here is a great store to buy a Rat Zapper, they have fast shipping!!
